Dear Internationally Trained Physician Colleagues,

You may have noticed something different about how we just addressed you.

Internationally Trained Physician. ITP.

We introduced this shift in our last email and we want to keep reinforcing it because language matters. IMG centers on where you graduated. ITP centers on what you have done, what you know, and what you are capable of. As this pathway continues to gain recognition at the state and national level, this is the terminology that more accurately reflects who you are and what these programs are actually evaluating.

You are not defined by where you trained. You are defined by the physician you have become.

So from here forward, when you see ITP, know that it is intentional. And know that it is a reflection of the respect this movement has for every physician in it.

Reaching the Biggest Tables.

We have significant news on the partnership front and we want to share it with the energy it deserves.

WeAreDocs and 3RNET are moving forward together with genuine mutual enthusiasm toward a partnership that we believe will be one of the most impactful developments this movement has seen.

For those who are not familiar, 3RNET is one of the most established and respected national networks in the country dedicated to connecting healthcare providers to rural and underserved communities. They have deep relationships with hospitals, clinics, and health systems in the communities that need physicians the most. These are exactly the organizations this pathway was built for.

Together, WeAreDocs and 3RNET are looking forward to providing education to healthcare employers across all existing pathway states. That means organizations that have never heard of this model will start hearing about it through one of the most trusted voices in rural healthcare. That is a multiplier we cannot build alone.

When 3RNET talks, rural hospitals listen. And rural hospitals are exactly where this pathway can have the most immediate and meaningful impact on patients who have been waiting far too long for a doctor.

We will keep you updated as this partnership develops. But we wanted you to know that this is happening, and it is happening because of the credibility this community has helped us build.

Early Conversations With UAG.

We are also in early but very promising conversations with Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, UAG, one of the most recognized and respected medical schools in the world and one of the largest producers of US medical graduates outside of the United States.

These conversations are still in their early stages and we want to be transparent about that. But the direction is exciting.

We are exploring two possibilities together. The first is establishing a pathway specifically designed for unmatched US IMGs, which would be a first of its kind initiative, creating a structured and supported path forward from the moment a student does not match rather than leaving them to navigate this journey alone for years. The second is expanding opportunities for UAG graduating students more broadly, giving them a real and meaningful option from day one rather than a system that tells them match or wait.

If these conversations develop the way we hope, the implications for the entire ITP community would be significant. When one of the most prominent medical schools in the world formally supports this pathway, it sends a message to every medical board, hospital system, and policy maker who is still on the fence.

We are excited about where this is headed and we will share more as it unfolds.

Showing Up at the Highest Tables in Washington State.

Dr. Mohamed Khalif and I will be attending the Washington State Hospital Association Summer Board Retreat, where we will be meeting directly with healthcare leaders from across the state to discuss and educate them about the alternate licensure pathway.

Washington State has been our flagship state from the beginning. It is where this model has been proven, where the policy has been most thoroughly developed, and where the most physicians have been placed. Bringing this conversation to the Washington State Hospital Association means we are now talking to the organizations that have the reach, the resources, and the influence to accelerate adoption in a meaningful way.

Every room we walk into is an opportunity to plant something. And this room is one of the most important we have been in.

Nevada Is Opening Its Doors in July.

You may know Nevada for its desert. But the desert we are more focused on is the Primary Care Desert that has left communities across the state without access to the physicians they need.

Nevada is expected to begin issuing licenses under its alternate licensure pathway in July. This is a significant milestone for a state with real and growing physician shortages, particularly in its rural and underserved communities.

The Cover Letter Is Working. Keep Going.

For those of you who are actively working with us and using the outreach cover letter we provided, we want you to hear this clearly.

It may not work on the first organization you send it to. It may not work on the second. It may not work on the fifth. And that can feel discouraging when you are the one sending it.

But here is what is happening behind the scenes. When enough physicians in enough communities are introducing this model to organizations around them, those organizations start talking to each other. They start asking questions. They start getting curious. And that curiosity turns into conversations with us.

Multiple employers have joined our network specifically because a physician reached out to them using that letter. Not because the letter was perfect. But because a trusted physician in their community showed up and said there is a better way.

You are that physician. Keep going. Every letter you send plants something. And some of those seeds are already growing into open doors.
